Brutal Carnage returns with its 17th edition on 12th September at The Spotted Deer, continuing the legacy of Chennai's longest-running underground metal series. Bringing together four bands spanning progressive metal, grindviolence, old-school death metal and thrash, the latest edition is a celebration of everything that makes the underground loud, extreme and unapologetic.
Trojan Horse make their long-awaited return after more than a decade. Formed in Chennai in 2011, the progressive metal outfit reunites after a ten-year hiatus with a renewed sense of purpose, inspired by how far the city's metal scene has evolved. Blending crushing grooves, atmospheric passages and progressive songwriting, Trojan Horse return with Siddhartha Ramanathan and Hasnain Abbas on guitars, Siva Baskaran on vocals, Vishnu Reddy on drums, joined by session bassist Naman Roy for this special reunion performance.
Making their Chennai debut are Bangalore's XrepeatX, bringing their signature blend of hardcore punk and grindviolence in support of their latest EP, Casual Violence. Known for their short, explosive songs and relentless live performances, expect fast riffs, punishing drums and absolutely zero compromise.
Also on the bill are Chennai's Moral Putrefaction. Winners of Wacken Metal Battle India 2022, the old-school death metal outfit represented India at Wacken Open Air and have shared the stage with bands including Psycroptic, Cult of Fire and Immolation. With guitarist Shiva back in town for a short while, the band reunites for a special hometown performance while working on their upcoming EP.
Opening the night are Severed Extremities, Chennai's thrash-infused death metal outfit featuring members from Moral Putrefaction, Perception Delta and Mangas. Drawing inspiration from old-school Florida and New York death metal with a local twist, the band delivers a relentless live assault.
