A true pioneer of the funk, Sly Stone stands as an undeniable powerhouse at the black music Mount Rushmore. "Fresh" is the 6th album released by Sly & the Family Stone. Released in 1973, it firmly rests in the funk genre, having built upon its widely acclaimed predecessor, There's a Riot Goin' On. When the band made its musical debut, it was in somewhat of a timely fashion, during the peak of the counterculture, when musical creativity and capability began to branch in sound, songwriting and production.
